North of Aarhus, archaeologists from the Moesgaard Museum are working to uncover traces of the Viking era in an extensive field work, and here Her Majesty Queen Margrethe passed by on Monday.

At the excavation, Queen Margrethe met several of the museum’s archaeologists, who presented some of the preliminary results. The excavation is located only a few kilometers from Lisbjerg, where a Viking-era graveyard has been recently discovered, which probably had a connection with the royal power of the past.

Queen Margrethe has been the patron saint of the Moesgaard Museum since 2005.
